Activision Blizzard employees have filed a charge with the National Labor Relations Board, accusing the publisher of both “intimidation and union busting” according to a press release sent to Vice in the wake of the current ongoing lawsuit surrounding the gaming giant.
The charge filed with the National Labor Relations Board by Activision Blizzard employees, in conjunction with the Communications Workers of America’s Campaign to Organize Digital Employees. The employees, who have previously organized as the ABK Worker’s Alliance, allege that Activision Blizzard is engaging in unfair labor practices, such as using coercive tactics, against employees.

According to Vice, the ABK Worker’s Alliance allege that management is using these tactics in order to “prevent its employees from exercising their rights to stand together and demand a more equitable, sustainable, and diverse workplace.”
On Twitter, The ABK Worker’s Alliance also tweeted that if the NLRB rules in favor of the employees, it would be “retroactive” as well as set a precedent for workers across the United States.
“If the NLRB rules in our favor, the ruling will be retroactive and we will set a precedent that no worker in the US can be intimidated out of talking about forced arbitration,” the tweet reads.
Activision Blizzard is facing a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which was filed back in late July. The lawsuit alleges that the company allowed a “bro culture” to foster at Activision Blizzard, resulting in an environment that allowed sexual harassement and discrimination, especially against female employees of color.
In the wake of the allegations, employees both former and current at Activision Blizzard organized into the ABK Worker’s Alliance aimed at collectively pushing for change within the company. Employees also staged a walkout in protest, specifically demanding an end to forced arbitration, more transparency on pay levels across the board, as well as better hiring practices and the empowerment of a company-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force aimed at hiring a third party audit of Activision Blizzard’s reporting structure, HR deparment and executive staff.
