LotRO’s Update 30.3 Adds Brawler Class, Legendary Item Revamp Ahead Of Fate of Gundabad Expansion

The Lord of the Rings Online is setting out to release its latest expansion, Fate of Gundabad, next month but players can start to dive into some of the largest changes to come to the MMO in years right now. As part of today’s Update 30.3, the latest class as well as the much anticipated Legendary Item revamp has released into Middle-earth.

The newest class, the Brawler class, hits the MMO today with Update 30.3, though you’ll need to have pre-ordered Fate of Gundabad in order to access the melee fighter. The new class doesn’t use swords, shields and more, instead relying on their fists to make their presence in a battle known. The new class is playable now for those players who have pre-ordered the upcoming expansion, and gives Middle-earth another class to fit a role in group, particularly for damage, off-tanking and support roles.

“Players can now create Brawler characters and play them! The Brawler is a melee class inspired by the tale of Helm Hammerhand, who fought bare-handed at one of the greatest sieges of Helm’s Deep and was known for his ferocity in battle. Brawlers forgo weapons in favor of Battle-gauntlets and heavy armor, hurling themselves into battle to the benefit of friend and devastation of foe. The main focus for Brawlers is damage, off-tanking, and support. Any race in Middle-earth can be a Brawler, except for Beornings, which are their own race and class combination.”

All players, meanwhile, will be able to start setting up their Legendary Items with the new LI revamp. The retooling of one of the most important – yet maligned – systems in the MMO is finally here with the hope that it will make the Legendary Item system more manageable for players in the years to come. You can read more about the changes coming with the LI Revamp in our previous coverage from last month’s Bullroarer tests.

Update 30.3 also brings some changes to each of the classes, such as reducing cooldowns for Champions, as well as adding a stacking debuff for Archer’s Mark for the Hunter class. You can read the full patch notes on the official website.
