Diablo 2: Resurrected Provides Update on Character Save Issues, Wait Time and More

Nearly two weeks ago we reported on some of the ongoing issues Diablo II: Resurrected has run into post launch, which included numerous server issues, database problems, and progress loss for many players. Now, Blizzard has provided an update, letting players know where they are on addressing these concerns, and what is left still to do.

If you’ve been playing Diablo II: Resurrected and you’ve run into issues, that pretty much seems to be par for the course according to Blizzard. In the previous update, the team informed their player base that character saves had been occurring far too often to the global database. In the next week, this will start a transition to a regional save database, which the team believes will alleviate stress on the database.

To deal with queue times, Blizzard will release a patch in the coming week which aims to offer “better transparency on queue times” by adding time estimates along with your place in the queue. That way, players will know roughly how long they will have to wait in order to get in. They will also rate limit games with varying times so they can get more players into a game during peak play times. This was part of their original plan they reported on several weeks prior, but it will only just now be implemented. Rate-limiting is planned as only a stopgap measure until all of the other problems are fixed, and will not be utilized once the queues, servers and population become manageable for the team.

Players that are also looking for a little more in the way of game fixes also won’t be disappointed. Bug fixes, and new features are headed down the pipe, which Blizzard deems as “significant” but has yet to reveal any specifics about them.
